Meet your accent coach, Amanda.
Amanda Matloff, M.S, CCC-SLP
Amanda is the founder and owner of City Accent Coaching. She is a board certified Speech-Language Pathologist and licensed member of the American Speech and Hearing Association. She is also a licensed member of the California Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology and Hearing Aid Dispensers Board.
Amanda's journey in teaching the General American Accent and American English Pronunciation skills began in Bloomington, Indiana, where she coached international students on their English pronunciation and understanding of American expressions as an undergraduate student at Indiana University. She continued her education in Boston, MA, pursing a Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology at Northeastern University. Boston, another international hub of students and professionals from all backgrounds, further exposed Amanda to the wide range of diverse and wonderful accents present in the U.S.
She has been a practicing Speech-Language Pathologist for over twelve years, working with individuals of all ages, from toddlers to the geriatric population. She has worked in the skilled nursing setting, pediatric outpatient and home health settings, assisting individuals with their communication needs. Amanda currently resides in Los Angeles, California.
Accent acquisition, also referred to as accent modification, developed passionately for Amanda, as a professional living in Los Angeles. Now, an Accent Coach, Amanda empowers business professionals, entrepreneurs, engineers, doctors, actors, public speakers and students, in acquiring the General American Accent, with the goal of being understood across all contexts and listeners. All accents are unique markers of one's cultural identify, however some speakers feel their accent impedes their ability to be understood. She looks forward to not only coaching your acquisition of correct pronunciation of General American English sounds, but also to empower you to find your most powerful and effective voice.
